Sundays Lift Off Power Recliner Review (2025), Tested

Lay test: Is it comfortable? Does it feel well-made? Does the couch have a tendency to sag?
The reclining seats are excellent for lounging or watching TV, but they’re not as well suited for laying completely horizontally. That said, one person can comfortably lie horizontally across the couch. The material feels well made and while it’s pilled and wrinkled a bit, it has not sagged, and its comfort has not declined.

Is the sofa suitable for particular decor styles and if so, which?
Our taste is eclectic with elements of midcentury modern, and we moved into a new space weeks before receiving the sofa. The Lift-Off doesn’t necessarily boast the colorful tones or modern sofa shape we’d naturally gravitate towards, but its neutral colored upholstery blends into our apartment well. It’s a welcome addition to our bright and colorful bookshelf and wall of trinkets.

Is it durable and practical in a modern home?
Yes, the couch is incredibly durable, and day-to-day maintenance has been no more difficult than it was with our budget couch. Not to mention, professional assembly assures that all pieces are properly in place and that damage is less likely, whereas our self-assembled budget couch suffered from minor damage almost immediately. The recliner is fantastically practical to save on walking space while still being able to lounge, but the most practical feature is that each arm of the couch hosts both USB and USB-C charging ports.

Is the couch kid- and/or dog-friendly?
I have not yet been able to test the couch around children, and I’d do more research or consult a parenting expert to determine the safety of a young child using a reclining sofa. That said, as long as you’re careful when reclining the seats, the couch is absolutely dog friendly. Conveniently, I hosted a dog for ten days soon after the couch was delivered. His brown and white hair with a tendency for shedding was never seen on the upholstery, and stains were easily removed as long as they were caught early.

What are the care and cleaning instructions? Do you think stains could be easily removed?
Stains are extremely easily removed with a damp paper towel if they’re caught early, barely leaving a mark. We’ve (thankfully) yet to have any set-in stains while testing. Sundays’ LiveLife Performance Fabric is advertised to be stain-resistant, moisture-repellant, washable, and non-toxic. So far, it’s lived up to that standard.

Do the photos do this product justice? Was there anything you were surprised to see IRL?
The couch is bigger than expected, each seat cushion is wider than anticipated, and the sofa is both longer and wider than it seemed from the online photos. The three-seat sofa fits well in our space, but I generally wouldn’t recommend the Lift-Off for a small space. However, it’s excellent for a home with a large living room space, such as a suburban home or an apartment with much more square footage.

Would the couch be easy to move into another room? Would it be easy to move to another apartment or home by yourself?
The couch is not easy to move alone or with others. My partner and I cannot lift any of the seats without additional help. It would definitely require extra help to move the couch to another home. Transparently, if we wanted to move the sofa within our current space, we’d likely be unable to do so.

How are the reclining features and does the couch adjust into a reclining position smoothly? Any things to note for someone considering it for entertainment room purposes?
The reclining features are excellent: Recline buttons are conveniently placed on each arm and function much like a reclining seat found in a movie theater. There’s an option to recline in a seated position, or a near-complete recline that’s closer to lying down. Our TV is placed on a mantle that’s well above eye level, and the recliner has allowed us to view the screen quite easily. The only shortcoming is that the middle cushion’s reclining buttons are placed on the side of the seat, so they take a bit more effort to find than the buttons on each arm.
